Wanda is the aunt of the protagonist Ezekiel. Wanda has raised Zeke ever since Zeke's mother (Wanda's sister-in-law) passed away. Ezekiel now lives with her, and her boyfriend Leon, in the South Bronx.
Although Wanda is not Zeke's real mother she sees him as a son and does her best to give him a shot at a successful future.
